The Big Life: A Ska Musical opens in London

Set in 1950’s London, ‘The Big Life: A Ska Musical’ opened this weekend at ‘Stratford East’ and runs until 30th March.

The Big Life A Ska Musical

Originally produced in 2004, it is the combination of Shakespeare’s ‘Love’s Labours Lost’ with the Windrush immigration story and was nominated for the ‘Best New Musical’ at the Olivier Awards in 2006.

It tells the central story of a group of West Indian immigrants arriving in the UK eager to make successes of themselves and optimistic about what has been promised to them and what the future holds, whilst navigating a not always welcoming England and challenges with the less than brilliant weather!

Billed as “a joyful and uplifting production…in a fun-packed Ska musical that’ll have you dancing in your seats”, it will certainly be worth checking out.
