Something To Do – Here Comes the Panic

If Green Day and Reel Big Fish had a love child, the resultant bundle of joy would be named ‘Sweet Caffeination!” And the world would be better place for it! That’s basically what you have for the first track and it’s a great start!

Here Comes the Panic Album Cover

The album, from Milwaukee’s ‘Something to Do’ is not a pure ska album but the band are not a pure ska band so you get what you would expect, a balanced mix of melodic punk/pop-punk with a generous smattering of ska and ska inspired horns.

The aforementioned first track is a highlight but its not a case of being let down by the rest, every track has its merits and ‘Pick Yourself Up’ is a great track that reminded me of a 90’s US pop punk classic with a ska twist. ‘Tiny Violin’ is another great track that mixes fast paced ska with punk riffs superbly. It would be difficult to pick out a weak track on this release and I don’t intend trying.

Finally, the last track on the album ‘Legal Abortion’ is a cracker and addresses the important issue of letting woman choose what the fuck they do with their own bodies – “Pro-Life is a dirty lie, you don’t care if women die” ๐Ÿ‘Š

I enjoyed this album a lot. For speed I often have to quickly skip through an album when reviewing it, then go back and listen in a more relaxed manner later, but I listened to every second of this and it’s now firmly made it into my playlist.

Something To Do

Go listen to it on all the usual streaming sites, or you can buy the CD on the bands Bandcamp page, which the band inexplicably claim is the best format ever when we all know that’s vinyl!. To be fair, they are considering a future vinyl release, so we’ll let them off!

I’m just not happy with my music format unless there’s a chance I can ruin it forever one drunken night by a careless drop of the needle! ๐Ÿ˜„
