Los Fastidios – Revolt
Not a pure ska outfit, Los Fastidios mix Ska, Oi! and Punk so what you get on this album, as with their previous, is a bit of everything – skanking beats mixed with some heavy punk sounds. And the album is no worse off for it!
After a 30 second introduction title track ‘Revolt’, you’re straight into the anthemic ska track ‘Antifa Hooligans Ska’, a proper Ska singalong which I can only imagine sounds awesome live!
The pace is continued with the next track ‘I Don’t Wanna Say to You Goodbye’, another upbeat Ska classic. What a great start!
Next up you get a couple of skanked up covers – ‘Only You’ written by Vince Clarke in his Yazoo years (although whenever I hear it mentioned, it’s The Flying Pickets I hear singing it!) and ‘This is How it Feels’ by Madchester era Inspiral Carpets. Damn good versions they are too!
Another cover follows but this time a punk rock offering – ‘Historia Triste’, originally by Spanish punk-rock giants ‘Eskorbuto’,
‘Keep the Pressure On’ continues the punk rock sound, and another anthemic track. It’s a great track!
‘Solidari-Ska’ finishes off the album in a stomping frenzy. Another fast paced ska anthem that is possibly my favourite of them all (although its a close call!) and “Music has to be the soundtrack to your life” is a lyric I’m sure we can all relate to!
