Cartoon Violence – Imaginary Friend

Welsh Ska maestros, Cartoon Violence have released their first track for 2024, following on from their 2023 single ‘No Detective’, which we reviewed here.

‘Imaginary Friend’ kicks off sounding like a cool cover of ‘Tainted Love’ (is it just me that hears it?) but that doesn’t last longer than a couple of brief seconds after which it launches into a piano driven delight, supported by some cool trumpet action by guest trumpeter (trumpeteer? trumpetists?) Steve from The Splitters & Dub Pistols. 

Although it sounds like a sad story, it’s actually uplifting tune that’s bound to get you on your feet.
