AKA The Syndicate – It’s Our World

This is the second album from Ska/Reggae collective and easily meanders from heavy reggae basslines to upbeat keyboard driven ska, all complete with great brass sound and lyrics that tell a story!

The album kicks off with ‘Overview’, a dark ska reggae feels with haunting vocals, almost ghost town like in its sound. A great start!

Following on are 11 more tracks of ska and reggae goodness. There isn’t a weak track on this album. From the heavy reggae bass lines of title-track, ‘It’s Our World’ and ‘Less Chat’ to the slightly more upbeat ska rhythms of ‘Shake the Tree’ and ‘Frances’, this is a great offering.

Standouts for me are the aforementioned ‘Shake the Tree’ and ‘Frances’, ‘Waiting for Monkey’ (The story of a loving dad being denied access to his child and a true story in this case for one of the band, and the brilliant ‘Let the World go by’, featuring Monty Neysmith of Symarip fame! 👊
