[spunge] back with new single release

spunge - problem solution

With nearly three decades behind them, [spunge] have become one of the UK’s most reliably upbeat ska-punk institutions – a band that has weathered scene booms and busts by doing what they do best: sharp hooks, big choruses, and an unshakeable sense of fun.

Incidentally, I had the pleasure of interviewing the band way back in 1998 right at the start of their journey for a fanzine I wrote at the time, and you can read that interview HERE!

Their latest single (and their first release for six years) ‘Problem/Solution’ arrives as a reminder that, while the landscape around them has changed, [spunge] still have a knack for producing something catchy, cathartic, and unmistakably theirs.

The track would comfortably sit with the band’s earlier sound but it’s no simple throwback. The track carries the brisk energy and bounce fans will associate with albums like Pedigree Chump and Room for Abuse yet the production feels cleaner and more tightly focused than their early releases. It certainly doesn’t feel like nostalgia for the sake of it but more a nod to their trademark sound and I for one love it!

What we need now, is a vinyl release with a bonus B-side, followed by a new album. We can but hope! Oh, and if you guys could get yourself on the line-up of Rebellion 2026, that would be great thanks!
