Matamoska! release new album on Bad Time Records

Formed back in 2001 in Los Angeles, Matamoska have recently released their 4th album ‘¡Matamoska!’, and a cracker it is too!
Released on Bad Time Records, the album kicks off hard and fast with ‘Flan’, ska tinged with a Latino flavour, great stuff!
‘Lone Star’ sticks the brass section at it’s helm with extensive solos set to a ska rhythm and is followed by the brilliant ‘That’s What She Said’ which has added vocals from Flying Racoon Suits Jessica Jeansonne. It’s definitely one of the highlights on the album and only bettered by the next track ‘Ska Show’ which is (possibly) my personal favourite, a bouncing, skanking feast for the ears!

‘Problema sin Solucion’ (problem without solution) then takes those ears and frankly kicks the living hell out of them! A screaming, hardcore, full on explosion of noise. Not entirely my cup of tea, but I bet it sounds pretty killer live!
As if in sympathy, you’re then presented with the sweet vocals of guest singer Brittany Luna (Catbite) for the next track ‘Acid Trip’, a gentle pounding ska journey, and another top track.
‘Therapy’ is another really really good ska tune and another contender for ‘best in class’ (or rather ‘best on album’). This one challenges my previous favourite ‘Ska Show’ and frankly, I can’t choose between them!
It’s always a good sign when you’re trying to pick a favourite on an album out of two or three tracks, so when ‘Toothpick’ came next, it gave me another to choose from, so that says a lot about this album, which is completed by the final track ‘Tren Al Sur’.
The album is available on the usual streaming sites and on gorgeous deep purple vinyl from Bad Time Records here:
