Lollypop Lorry take us into winter with summer chillout vibes
Already depressed at the cold chills of winter? Are the grey skies and dark evenings getting you down? Then just maybe Lollypop Lorry have the solution for you!
‘Stick By Me’ is the latest album from the Russian skasters and the theme of the day is most definitely summer chillout vibes.
Kicking off with ‘Summer Day’, the band ask us “Do you remember summer day…?” – only just guys! Only just!
Killer vocals from lead singer Svetlana and smooth reggae/ska vibes blow away the winter blues of our cold and short days. A great start!

‘Mystery Life’ digs deeper into the reggae vibes and you can close your eyes and see yourself sitting on a Jamaican beach sipping on a rum cocktail.
‘They Call it Ska’ is exactly what it sounds like. A perfect tribute to the genre we all know & love and it picks the pace up somewhat with a track that sounds as though it dropped straight of of 1960’s Kingston Town. An absolute peach of a track and my favourite on the album!
A marginally more modern reggae feel is then rolled out for the next track ‘Still Hides You’ but still, the chillout vibe is strong, and if you haven’t shaken of the winter blues by this stage in the album, then you’re beyond help!
The fifth track ‘Sorry About Your Worry’ sees the band team up with I-Peace Unikue (Eastern Standard Time) for a great vocal duet with Svetlana, and the result is as sweet as candy. Gentle ska rhythms mixed with amazing vocals and a smattering of brass section solos make this yet another great track!

The traditional ska sounds continues with ‘Little Lie’ before ‘Hammock’ introduces Ron Burgundy on jazz flute (sorry, only fans of Anchorman will understand).
Lovers Rock makes an appearance next with guest vocals from Tenor Love and keys by The Wailers Andres Lopez. ‘Save a Little Love’ is exactly what you expect – an authentic, tradition Lovers Rock sound – Lollypop Lorry are masters of capturing that authentic Jamaican sound.
‘Song For Two’, ‘Sweet Emotion’ and ‘Why Aren’t You With Me’ drop back into a chilled traditional ska rhythm before the band pay tribute to their roots and hometown of Екатеринбург (Yekaterinburg), which is the fourth largest city in Russia and considered the Russian capital of street art! ‘My Hometown’ is another great ska track.
The album is rounded off the way it started – gentle reggae vibes of ‘I’ll Meet You Again’ and ‘Outtro’ a winding ska instrumental, with horns aplenty.

This really is a cracking album from these guys, give it a listen now! What’s more, it’s being released on limited edition vinyl in two awesome colours 😍. All available from their Bandcamp page here:
