Fidget & The Twitchers unveil ‘Can’t Sit Straight’ EP
Bristol’s Ska-Punksters Fidget & The Twitchers will release their latest EP ‘Can’t Sit Strait’ on 12th July.
The release contains five tracks, kicking off with ‘Stick Em Up’, a reminder (if we needed one) that politicians can’t be trusted! It’s a riotous ska-punk, ska-core number that even manages to introduce a flute into the mix!
‘Whiskey Mystic’ follows next and tackles the temptation of using vices for distraction from the difficulties of life. Mixing ska and punk with a bit of hip hop style vocals thrown in for good measure, it’s a unique sound that has a bit of everything!
‘Convoy Cabaret’ kicks off with heavy brass and ska offbeats. In it the band celebrate the comradery of the clownpunk festival community in a style of music the band lovingly dub ‘festivalcore’.
The impressive brass section continues to deliver on ‘Fidget (verb)’, a swing-infused exploration of the joys and struggles of ADHD, punctuated by heavy guitar riffs and ska rhythms.
Finishing off the offering is the superb ‘Mr Landlord’, a comically crass take on a sociopolitical issue that affects many people. Released as a single on at the end of the May along with its risqué music video – “a prime example of how quickly one lewd tune and 7 imaginations can spiral out of control when shooting without a story board!” With heavy punk vocals and a hard hitting ska guitar backbeat, it’s a cracker of a tune!
This EP was made possible by the support of the bands fans, who donated over £1500 through Crowdfunder, claiming rewards such as drum lessons from drummer Oana and choosing a song for the band to cover at their EP launch! What has resulted are five tracks of genre-bending ska that is hard to pigeonhole, but is energetic, riotous and just damn good!
