Bite Me Bambi release 8-track E.P.

Californian Ska Punksters ‘Bite Me Bambi’ have released an 8 track E.P. that is packed with Ska-Punk loveliness. And what’s more, it’s available in the sexiest of sexy vinyl. Just remember to play it at the right speed!

Getting vinyl all the way from the U.S.A. isn’t particularly cost effective, so I thought I might as well order the ‘Hurry Up & Wait’ repress in equally sexy vinyl too, which made for a double delight on delivery!

Bite Me Bambi - Eat This

Listening to the first track, which I hadn’t previously heard and is billed as ‘featuring Dirty Walt’ (from Fishbone), I hear a mans voice singing to me along with a steady ska beat. ‘Pretty Good!” I think to myself, “This is a great start”…then the second track starts…’Bad Boyfriend’.

“Wait a minute, why is there a man singing this, and why is it slowed right down? This isn’t the Bad Boyfriend I’ve heard!”

JUST BECAUSE ITS 12″, DOESN’T NECESSARILY MEAN YOU PLAY IT AT 33RPM!!

OK, red faced, I try again!

To be fair, the opening track ‘Too Many People’ was pretty decent at the slower speed, but when you finally get your brain in gear and play it at the suggested 45rpm, it’s a stonker of a fast paced, high octane ska punk classic. A more-than-solid start to what turns out to be a killer E.P.

Followed by ‘Bad Boyfriend’, which we previously reviewed here, two tracks in and I’m already loving this release.

‘Girls Like You’, complete with bouncing ska choruses, keeps up the pace as does the next track up, ‘Gaslighters Anthem’, complete with great rocking guitars and a good smattering of brass.

Next up, Bite Me Bambi give The Offspring’s ‘Want You Bad’ a heavy dose a ska-punkness, and it’s all the better for it. Not many covers are better than the original but I genuinely prefer this one to the pop-punk masters version.

‘Do the Damned’ Bite Me Bambi’s Halloween offering last year, berating all those who talk about you behind your back and which we reviewed here, is Rock ‘n Roll infused Ska music and it just works!

‘Like That’ and ‘Girls of Summer’ complete what is a rock-solid line up of tracks with the former bringing you the signature upbeat danceable sounds of the band, followed by a slower reggae sound to finish the record off in style.

This really is a top notch release and you should definitely give it a listen. Better still, get yourself the vinyl, you won’t be disappointed!

Bite Me Bambi, the band that sound great at any speed! 👊
